Carol’s Story – Migraines

I’d been struggling with regular migraines for years. I would say that on more days than not I would wake up with a headache. The strange thing is that I’m sure frowning in my sleep brought them on.  On most days I would wake up early because of the headaches and I never felt rested and was utterly fed up. I had been put on medication by my GP, but this did not work and I didn’t like the side effects and how it made me feel.

It had got so bad that I decided to go and see Dr Sophie Shotter at Illuminate Skin & Wellness Clinic for a consultation. She told me that for a lot of people simply treating the forehead area with Botox to relax the muscles worked very well and reduced the frequency and severity of headaches and migraines. By now my nighttime frowning had got so bad that I had a deep red coloured crease in my forehead.

Dr Sophie treated me with Botox injections in my forehead area and within a week I noticed I hadn’t had a headache. I almost thought it was too good to be true! But lo and behold, as the Botox started to wear off a few months later, the headaches returned. After my second treatment I was really convinced.  The headaches went away again almost immediately.

It’s been life changing for me – and the added benefit of having fewer wrinkles is a real bonus! The only problem now is I’m sleeping so well I struggle to get up for early morning appointments.  I never knew I could have a lie in!
