Nutritional Therapy
About this treatment
Nutritional therapy takes a whole-body approach to health, using the latest nutrition science to provide tailored recommendations and advice to patients with long-term (chronic) conditions and those looking to enhance their general health and wellbeing. The personalised approach seeks to address the underlying causes of ill health rather than just addressing the symptoms on the surface.
How does nutritional therapy work?
By looking at some critical medical background information and your current health concerns and diet, your nutritional practitioner will explain the potential causes behind your symptoms and answer any questions you may have. Your diet, lifestyle and emotional and mental health will all be taken into account to gain a clear and holistic understanding of what’s impacting your overall health.
The process aims to educate you about the benefits of dietary and lifestyle intervention, providing you with a tailored nutrition programme so that you can feel empowered to take charge of your own health for long-lasting results.
You may be battling a chronic health condition like IBS, struggling to lose weight or perhaps you’d just like to discover how diet can improve your and your loved ones’ health. Whatever the reason is for seeking nutrition and lifestyle support, nutritional therapy will help you make manageable and realistic changes to your current diet at a pace that suits you.
Your nutritionist will ask about your diet, lifestyle, sleep quality, bowel movements, and general habits and behaviours during your consultation. This information will help them to gain a deeper understanding of your current state of health and the potential causes behind any symptoms you may have.
You’ll agree on a personalised nutritional programme during the consultation, which typically includes dietary and lifestyle advice, as well as carefully selected nutritional supplements where relevant. Further testing may also be recommended.
The number of appointments you will need depends on the severity of the symptoms you present with. Some patients need only two appointments, whereas others may require a more long-term approach.
