Male Breasts
Male breasts usually develop due to excess fat tissue forming in the breast area, rather than actual breasts growing. They can form at any age, but are most common in adolescence and in older men. Development of male breasts in adolescence is almost always due to Gynecomastia, where a decrease in the amount of testosterone compared with the amount of oestrogen occurs. Being overweight and excessive alcohol consumption are common causes of male breasts forming as a result of excessive fat tissue.
This condition can be distressing to many men, causing embarrassment and confusion but can usually be corrected with Coolsculpting (fat freezing) treatment, which has achieved some outstanding results for Illuminate patients.
