At Illuminate we use CoolSculpting for all fat freezing treatments. CoolSculpting is a completely non-invasive procedure that freezes away unwanted fat, helping to contour your body and give you the figure that you want. The treatment is undertaken in clinic with the patient either sitting or lying down. A CoolSculpting applicator is attached to the area of the body being treated to freeze away the unwanted fat cells, delivering long-term results.

Fat Freezing – CoolSculpting

About this treatment

Entirely safe and highly effective, CoolSculpting can be used to remove fat from many areas of the body including the stomach, hips, inner and outer thighs and the male chest as well as for bra fat removal.

CoolSculpting uses rounded paddles which are available in many different shapes and sizes to create suction on the skin. The temperature will fall to around -11 Celsius which will crystallise the fat cells whilst ensuring the surrounding tissue remains unaffected. Over the next few weeks the body’s natural process works to remove the dead fat cells.

Fat cells are especially sensitive to cold. Once the areas to be treated have been carefully identified, CoolSculpting freezes them at -10 degrees centigrade, destroying approximately one third of all fat cells targeted.

You will either be sitting or lying down during your treatment.  As part of treatment planning we will take photos of the areas to be treated. When ready, a cold gel pad will be put onto your skin and the CoolSculpting applicator will then be attached to this area and freezing will take place.  This is followed by a post treatment massage.

While your treatment is taking place you will be able to watch TV, read a book, eat a snack and have a cup of coffee.

The dead fat cells are treated as normal waste by your body and disposed of naturally.

You may feel mild discomfort during the first 10 minutes of the treatment or during the massage that follows. Some delayed onset pain may also be felt (usually a few days after treatment) by those who have CoolSculpting treatment to the stomach area. Dr Sophie will prescribe a preventative painkiller for this if required.
