Shape & Sculpt is a unique dual combination treatment developed by Dr Sophie Shotter exclusively for Illuminate customers. It is designed to reduce or eliminate a double chin, jowls or sagging skin on the lower face and then re-contour the chin and jawline to restore the shape, volume and definition in the lower face that is often lost as we age.
Firstly ‘CoolMini’ fat freezing is used to freeze away unwanted submental fat on the chin and jawline. This is a highly effective, FDA-approved Coolsculpting technology, developed especially to remove small areas of stubborn, difficult to remove fat without damaging the surrounding tissue. Then Volux dermal fillers are used to restore volume and definition to the treated area, sculpting chin and jawline while also deeply hydrating the skin. Containing hyaluronic acid and using unique, patented VYCROSS technology, this premium quality dermal filler has been especially formulated for treatment of the chin and jawline areas.
This innovative treatment combination offers excellent long-term results, enhancing the overall appearance of the face, improving symmetry and contouring and boosting and rejuvenating the skin’s tone and texture. We may recommend that Volux is also used to restore volume to the cheeks to help improve overall facial balance. This will be discussed with you at your patient consultation.

How does this treatment work?
Shape & Sculpt works by combining ‘CoolMini’ and Volux dermal fillers to remove fat, address sagging skin and enhance definition and contouring of the chin and jawline. ‘CoolMini’ freezes any unwanted fat from underneath the skin at -11 degrees centigrade. The body disposes of the dead fat cells naturally. Volux dermal fillers are then used to add volume, as we sculpt and contour the chin and jawline to improve definition, symmetry and profile in the lower face.

What happens during my treatment?
You will be lying down comfortably for both parts of this treatment. CoolMini uses a hand-held applicator attached to a Coolsculpting machine to freeze away the targeted fat. You can watch TV or read a magazine while this takes place. A numbing cream or local anaesthetic will be used prior to your Volux treatment which will be given using a cannula or injections with a fine needle.

Will I feel any pain or side effects?
Numbness may be felt in the treatment area while the fat-freezing process takes place. This will quickly go away. You may experience some swelling or tenderness immediately after Volux injections and this may last for up to 2-3 days.
