About this treatment
PRP Therapy involves taking a small amount of your blood, which is then ‘spun’ to separate out its components and to isolate the platelet-rich plasma. The PRP is then injected into the area to be treated with a fine needle, stimulating tissue growth and producing collagen to naturally rejuvenate your skin.
This treatment is an excellent natural alternative to other rejuvenation treatments, particularly if you are worried about injections. It is often combined with Microneedling to gain optimum results. PRP Therapy is also widely used to successfully treat a variety of sports injuries and conditions that affect tendons, joints and disks.
A small amount of blood will be taken from your arm. This is then ‘spun’ in a centrifuge and the platelet-rich plasma is separated from the rest of the blood’s components. It is then injected into the area of skin to be treated and may also be gently delivered into the skin using a microneedling pen. The platelets work by initiating repair and attracting stem cells, stimulating and accelerating natural healing and rejuvenation.
Firstly your skin will be cleaned and blood will be taken from the arm to extract the platelets. Once the blood has been spun, PRP injections will take place. You will be lying down throughout the treatment.
You may feel some burning during treatment and the treatment area may feel tender for 3-4 days. Bruising may also occur, usually for 4-5 days after treatment.
Anyone aged 18 and over. It is particularly popular with patients wanting to refresh areas of their skin and face but who do not like the idea of other injectable treatments.
