Belly Fat
This is often a genetic condition, but most people will add belly fat as they age and the body’s metabolic rate declines. The menopause, poor diet, overeating and lack of exercise are all likely to affect how much belly fat your body may gain as you get older. Women will often develop pockets of belly fat after a caesarean section and men often develop belly fat in middle age.
It is important not to have excess belly fat, in particular the visceral fat that surrounds the organs. This can be an indicator for several serious diseases including heart disease, type 2 diabetes and some cancers.
