Food Allergy & Intolerance Clinic
Food Intolerance Testing in Maidstone, Kent
Food intolerances have become increasingly common over the last decade and affect approximately 45% of the population, yet far too often, they are left undiagnosed. Over time, this can cause symptoms such as bloating, abdominal pain, acne, brain fog and diarrhoea as the body struggles to digest these foods.
Determining which foods you have an intolerance to is the key to regaining your quality of life and your relationship with food. If left untreated, food intolerance symptoms can develop into something much more – think chronic inflammation and life-changing conditions such as IBS, joint pain, Hashimoto’s and MS.
On the other hand, food allergies are more common in children but may also develop later on in life. It’s crucial to quickly identify a food allergy when they occur so they can be managed through lifestyle changes and medication, and avoidance. In order to deal with allergy symptoms most effectively, the first step is to determine what’s causing the allergy. Allergy tests provide specific information about what foods are associated with antibodies that may cause allergic reactions.
Our food allergy and intolerance tests are a quick, reliable and accurate way of identifying food reactions. We can test over 100 key food and drink items, including wheat, gluten, dairy, milk, eggs, nuts and many more. With the help and support of our GP and nutritionist, you will have the option to start a guided elimination diet, optimising your intake of foods and drinks based on your personal test results.

How do I know if I need a test?
Symptoms of food intolerance can be wide and varied, but if you suffer from any of the following symptoms, it is well worth exploring your options as undiagnosed food intolerances can have a crippling effect on long-term health.
- Acne
- Rosacea
- Eczema
- Weight gain/loss
- Arthritis
- Joint pain
- Brain fog
- Anxiety
- Bloating
- Constipation
- Diarrhoea
- IBS
When it comes to food allergies, symptoms usually develop quite quickly, often within seconds or minutes. It’s crucial that food allergies are diagnosed as soon as possible, as they can be life-threatening and you may need to be prescribed an EpiPen if you’re at risk of an anaphylactic reaction.

How does the process work?
If you’re concerned about food allergies or intolerances, the first step is to see our GP for a consultation to discuss your concerns. During this time, we will take a blood sample to send to our laboratory for testing. You will then be invited for a review appointment to discuss a maintenance plan based on you results. It commonly takes 7 working days for results to arrive with us.

What causes food allergies?
Most food allergies start in childhood, but they can develop at any time of life. It’s not clear why, but some adults suddenly develop an allergy to a food they typically eat with no problem. Often children outgrow food allergies, but that’s less likely to happen with adults.
