Heavy Eyelids
Heavy eyelids occur as a natural part of the ageing process from middle age onwards. They are caused by the loss of collagen in the skin which makes the skin looser, and by structural changes to the face which occur as you get older, for example the shape of the eye socket changing. Heavy eyelids can be exaggerated by the dropping of the brow, and in extreme cases can result in the eyelids becoming so heavy that they sit on the eyelashes.
This condition can affect both men and women and is reasonably common in middle or old aged Caucasians. Heavy eyelids can sometimes be mistaken for Brow Ptosis (Droopy Eyebrow).
