“When patients come to me for aesthetic treatments, it's usually during a time of their life when they may be feeling a little bit vulnerable and need someone to help them overcome whatever it is that they are going through.”
Ashley Watts, Level 7 PGDip Aesthetics
Ashley joined the Illuminate team in 2022 as a Medical Aesthetic Practitioner to help meet the growing demand for some of our most popular treatments. Ashley is registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and has over a decade of experience working within the NHS, gaining vast experience in medical care.
Ashley holds a Level 7 Post Graduate Diploma in Aesthetics – a JCCP-approved and VTCT-certified diploma undertaken by medical professionals who wish to specialise in injectable aesthetic treatments. Ashley kickstarted her medical career in 2007 at the University of Greenwich, where she was offered a place to study Midwifery. It was during her thirteen-year career as a midwife that she developed a passion for delivering patient-centred care and making a meaningful difference in the lives of those she cares for. She has spent the last twelve years practising in various settings within the NHS and has now decided to combine her love of beauty with her passion for medical care and build her skill set in advanced aesthetic treatments.
More recently, Ashley has gained her Level 7 diploma – a JCCP-approved and VTCT-certified clinical aesthetics diploma in injectable treatments for medical professionals considering a career in aesthetic medicine as well as those already practising but looking to obtain formal recognition for their knowledge and skills.
Patient care and safety are of utmost importance to Ashley, so she frequently invests in on-going training to advance her skills, whilst gaining hands-on practical experience with some of the most prestigious and highly regarded aesthetic practitioners in the UK, including our very own Dr Sophie Shotter.
Ashley was handpicked by Dr Sophie Shotter to join our flourishing team and help grow our aesthetic offering. Working closely alongside Dr Sophie and our team of talented aesthetic practitioners, Ashley will provide a wide range of treatments, including anti-wrinkle injections, skin boosters, fillers, Sofwave and medical treatments such as Thread Vein Removal and Hyperhidrosis.
Ashley is a natural people person and really enjoys taking care of others. The most exciting part of her role is working with her patients and helping them overcome their insecurities to feel the best version of themselves. She loves building rapport with patients, understanding their needs and then applying her skills in the right way for them. She sees a lot of overlap between her roles in aesthetics and midwifery – “When patients come to me for aesthetic treatments, it’s usually during a time of their life when they may be feeling a little bit vulnerable and need someone to help them overcome whatever it is that they are going through,” she says. So far, she has found the aesthetics industry more rewarding than she ever anticipated it would be.
Outside of work, Ashley really enjoys music and playing the piano. She has a four-year-old, an eighteen-year-old and a dog who all keep her very busy.
