Can HArmonyCa be dissolved?

The new hybrid injectable, HArmonyCa, is rapidly rising in popularity – and for good reason. The big selling point is that it doesn’t only provide instant volume, but long-term firmer, smoother skin as well, as it’s teamed with an agent that’s proven to stimulate fibroblast activity to induce collagen and elastin generation.

What makes it so exciting is that it’s the first injectable that visibly tackles thinning, slackening skin in the ‘lateral’ parts of the mid and lower face. Think, the lower cheeks that can be prone to drooping, and those vertical lines spreading from the corners of the mouth towards the lower cheeks. It’s also perfect for lifting and tightening the jowls, marionette lines, the jawline and smile lines that are notoriously difficult to improve with other methods.

What is HArmonyCa and why is it different?

HArmonyCA is in part what we call a bio-stimulator, in that the calcium hydroxyapatite has a collagen-stimulating function under the skin. Other bio-stimulator products exist, but the difference with this product is that the initial lifted result remains, whereas other products on the market lose that initial lift. It is made of 70 per cent cross-linked hyaluronic acid (or HA) gel (for immediate plumping) and 30 per cent calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHA) microspheres (which boost collagen synthesis).

The product is administered to subcutaneous layer via a cannula, using up to three injection points in each side of the face. Thanks to the length of the cannula, we can spread it under the entire cheek and jaw area, depositing the gel right where the calcium hydroxyapatite can get to work: throughout the dermis.

What does HArmonyCa do?

HarmonyCa is excellent for patients who wish to tackle jowls and laughter lines, which, on the whole don’t set in until your 40s when collagen levels drop, and skin loses its density and spring. It also helps firm up and ‘thicken’ tired-looking, lax skin giving an overall fresher, more youthful appearance which continues to improve over time.

It’s ideal for patients who want something that goes beyond volumisation and who are concerned with loss of facial structure and definition associated with ageing and for those who would like to benefit from long-term improvement of facial proportions, lines, wrinkles and crepey skin.

Can HArmonyCa be dissolved?

Reversibility has always been a concern of ours when it comes to biostimulator products, and this why we haven’t offered any in our clinic until now. It’s not possible to reverse most biostimulators which would pose huge issues in the event of a vascular occlusion. But, because HarmonyCa is made of 70 per cent cross-linked hyaluronic acid, we have a partially reversible product which makes it lower risk compared with other biostimulators.

Is it more expensive than fillers?

Compared with fillers, HArmonyCa is slightly more expensive but each syringe contains 1.25ml compared with 1.0ml in a standard syringe of Juvéderm fillers. And of course, HArmonyCa is offering additional benefits, and longer-lasting results in many cases.
