Can Profhilo get rid of a turkey neck?

Many of us don’t give our neck the attention that it needs – until it’s too late that is. The skin in this area is thin and sees quite a bit of sun, so it can often show signs of ageing sooner than other parts of the body. This often translates to lines, creases, wrinkles and even sagging. Crepiness is another common concern among patients – and this change in skin quality can even make the neck look dry and scaly. Fortunately, thanks to the rise of non-surgical aesthetic treatments, there are many ways we can address the signs of ageing on the neck without resorting to surgery. One, in particular, that has proven popular amongst patients is Profhilo – an injectable treatment that utilises the power of hyaluronic acid for some very impressive results.
What happens to the neck as we age?
Skin ageing, in general, begins around the age of 25, when collagen starts to break down at a rate of 1 to 1.5 per cent a year (accelerating in menopause), and the neck falls prey to a lack of elasticity, firmness, and texture. We may develop vertical muscle bands, loose skin or crepiness. The neck lacks sebaceous glands and tends to be less oily than the face making it more prone to these changes, which are often seen from your mid-thirties onwards.
How does Profhilo help?
Powered by pure hyaluronic acid, Profhilo restores the skin’s firmness, reduces fine lines and wrinkles, stimulates collagen production, and enhances its ability to retain moisture. This grants a subtle but impactful tightening effect both immediately and over time.
We all naturally produce and break down hyaluronic acid every day, but the process gets a little sluggish as we age and this contributes to signs of ageing in areas such as the neck. Profhilo is a runny substance that is gently administered at five localised points per side in the area to be treated and spreads evenly throughout the layers of the skin, stimulating collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid along the way. This approach plumps the skin and diminishes fine lines and wrinkles whilst boosting the skin’s radiance and dewiness.
Profhilo contains one of the highest concentrations of hyaluronic acid available and delivers prolonged efficacy, integrating into the tissue where it then really gets to work to restore the levels of hyaluronic acid naturally found in the skin. You can expect improvements in skin texture, elasticity, and hydration, with the added benefit of an almost immediate tightening effect in some cases.
When treating the neck, Profhilo will improve crepiness, tech neck and often also the neck contour itself. Necks tend to need more sessions than the face for best results, so we usually recommend three sessions a month apart, but this will be discussed during your consultation.
What can I do to prevent neck wrinkles?
In addition to daily sun protection and targeted skincare, it’s important to limit the range of motion so you don’t stretch the skin on the neck. Try not to bend your head over whilst typing or looking down at your phone. The skin on the neck is thin and doesn’t have the healing capacity of other parts of the body, so prevention is key.
