Injectable moisturisers seem like such an obvious concept. We apply layer upon layer of skincare hoping that our complexion absorbs every anti-ageing ingredient – why not inject them directly into our skin? For many people, injectable moisturisers are a much less scary sounding concept, compared to a traditional dermal filler. As opposed to adding volume, the idea is to improve the quality of your skin, so it reflects light in the most flattering way possible. They focus on enhancing and improving skin quality, without making any significant changes to the face. Curious? Read on for everything you need to know.
What is an injectable moisturiser?
Injectables used to just mean Botox or fillers, but now there’s a whole new world of non-invasive treatments that can transform your complexion. Much thinner in consistency than normal fillers, injectable moisturisers work more deeply than topical products and sit just beneath the surface of the skin to give immediate results, improving elasticity as well as hydrating, and making skin look beautifully plump and dewy. The way they work differs between products, so let’s look at a few of the most popular options to help you understand what may be right for you.
Profhilo
Much more than a moisturiser, this injectable also kick-starts the production of collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid within the skin, making it look smoother, plumper and more radiant. Made with a very fluid type of hyaluronic acid gel, Profhilo acts as a magnet to hold water within the skin, and all that hydration helps the skin to remodel itself, creating more collagen and elastin that gives the skin its firmness and spring. It lasts for six months and refreshes a tired, dry, and crepey complexion.
Viscoderm Hydrobooster
Viscoderm Hydrobooster is a stabilised hyaluronic acid injectable which offers dual-action results: intensely hydrating the skin from within whilst also smoothing out and restructuring wrinkles.
This treatment noticeably improves elasticity, radiance, and smoothness of the skin, whilst also eliminating lines and wrinkles for a more youthful appearance. Viscoderm Hydrobooster is particularly useful for those with signs of ageing around mobile areas of the face such as around the mouth, eyes, and forehead.
Volite
Administered through a series of tiny injections, Volite works to plump and hydrate skin, smoothing out roughness and evening out depressions. It doesn’t disperse as much as Profhilo and therefore has more of an impact on fine lines and wrinkles. The results are subtle, and it’s more about age-proofing the face instead of turning back the clock.
Nucelofill
Nucleofill is a relatively new-to-the-market bio-stimulator for skin rejuvenation and protection. As an anti-ageing treatment, it is designed to improve skin elasticity and tightness, as well as aid in the prevention of wrinkles. It is a particularly great alternative for patients who may have experienced slight puffiness with other hyaluronic acid injectables.
Instead of introducing hyaluronic acid to the skin, as other skin boosters do, Nucleofill contains polynucleotide-based bio-stimulating gels to help contour, firm and boost collagen. It’s not as volumising as filler, but it’s a treatment which produces a very natural look and provides structure to the skin, whilst also being deeply hydrating.
