Elipse Weight Loss Balloon
Non-surgical Gastric Balloon for Weight Loss, Maidstone, Kent.
The Elipse Balloon is a non-invasive gastric balloon that’s swallowed in the form of a tablet and filled with liquid to take up space in your stomach and create a feeling of fullness – helping you to kick-start your new, healthier and smarter lifestyle choices.
Sometimes it can be challenging to shift excess weight through diet and exercise alone. The Elipse Balloon offers a revolutionary alternative to surgical weight loss solutions, helping you rediscover your confidence and embrace a happier and healthier you.
A fully supported weight loss journey
Known as the world’s first ‘swallowable gastric balloon in a pill’, the Elipse Balloon enables up to 15% body weight loss in as little as four months with no surgery, no endoscopy and no anaesthesia. Just results.
At Illuminate Skin Clinic, we take a holistic approach to weight loss, and our Elipse programme is about a lot more than ‘just a gastric balloon’. We combine a high-tech balloon solution with a full support package, including nutritional and dietary coaching, to help you develop good lifestyle habits that stick around long after the balloon has gone.
From your very first consultation right through to the final check-up, we will be by your side to advise, motivate and support you to lasting results.
How does the Elipse Balloon work?
The Elipse Balloon takes up space in your stomach and induces weight loss by increasing the feeling of fullness. This means that you are more likely to reduce the amount of food you eat throughout the day.
You will swallow a capsule containing the deflated balloon attached to a thin tube during your placement appointment. Once the balloon has been checked via X-ray, it is filled through the catheter with 550ml of water. A second X-ray will then be carried out the ensure the balloon is filled and sitting correctly in your stomach.
The entire process takes place during a brief 20-minute appointment, and you’ll be free to continue your day as usual following the procedure.

Time required for treatment
The balloon is placed during a brief 20-minute appointment. After approximately 16 weeks, the balloon empties and passes naturally.
Time until results seen
You will begin to see results gradually over the 16-week period. You’ll be encouraged to stay in control of your weight loss journey by weighing in weekly using your smart scale to ensure your new lifestyle plan stays on track.
One clinical study showed that 95% of average weight loss with Elipse can be sustained at 12-month follow up.
Number of treatments required
Just one treatment is required to lose between 10 to 15kgs. Supplementary balloon treatment is safe and effective if additional weight loss is recommended by your doctor.

What should I expect after the balloon has been implanted?
Six hours post-procedure, you can start having small sips of liquid. You’ll be advised to stay on a liquid diet for the first three days before you can start introducing soft foods.
Avoid physical activity for the first week, then gradually increase as you become acclimated to the balloon.
Ten days post procedure, you should be able to start eating regular food once again. Your nutritionist will guide you through recommendations for healthy meals and supplements throughout your 5-month plan to help you stay on track.
Am I suitable for treatment?
Anyone over the age of 18 who is in good health generally and is struggling to achieve weight loss through diet and exercise alone is a suitable candidate for treatment.
How much weight will I lose?
You can lose up to 2 to 3 stone (approximately 12-19 kgs). It’s important that you also implement healthier lifestyle and eating habits, make better food choices and commit to exercising more regularly.
What are the side effects?
Some people may experience nausea, abdominal cramping, and occasional vomiting after balloon placement. In most cases, these symptoms are well-controlled with commonly used prescription medication.
How is the balloon removed?
After approximately 16 weeks (4 months), the balloon’s time-activated release valve will open, allowing it to empty and pass naturally through your gastrointestinal tract without the need for a removal procedure.
