“I am passionate about treating the person as a whole, rather than simply prescribing medications.”
Dr Ru Ahweyevu
Dr Ru Ahweyevu brings a wealth of experience and a compassionate approach to her role as a general practitioner here at Illuminate Skin Clinic. With a strong background in NHS hospital medicine and community care, she has dedicated herself to providing comprehensive healthcare that addresses both the physical and emotional aspects of her patients’ well-being.
After graduating from the esteemed Imperial College School of Medicine, Dr Ru embarked on her journey within the NHS. Her diverse experience spans hospital medicine and palliative care. Several years ago, she successfully transitioned her focus to General Practice, where she has excelled as a dedicated locum GP.
Dr Ru’s deep-seated passion lies in menopause and women’s health. She is a passionate advocate for women who are struggling with their hormones and need support to reduce menopause symptoms. She is particularly intrigued by lifestyle medicine and preventative approaches that prioritise nutrition, healthy living, and addressing underlying causes rather than mere symptoms. Her philosophy revolves around treating the person as a whole, rather than simply prescribing medications.
With a specialisation in women’s health and reproductive medicine, including a diploma in reproductive health which she is currently working towards, Dr Ru is well-equipped to address a range of health concerns. From menopausal challenges and period issues to fertility struggles, she acknowledges the unique complexities of each patient’s unique journey. Dr Ru understands the time constraints in healthcare settings and is committed to providing her patients with the time and attention they deserve to truly manage their health concerns.
She approaches each patient interaction with compassion, understanding the profound impact that quality care can have on their daily lives and mental well-being. Her patient-centric approach creates a safe space for open discussions and personalised treatment plans.
Outside of work, Dr Ru is kept very busy by her two young children. She loves watching documentaries, travelling, trying new restaurants, and is currently learning Spanish.
