“I am passionate about producing natural-looking, non-surgical enhancements and seeing the positive impact that treatments can have on both wellbeing and self-esteem.”
Carrie Thorpe
Carrie joined the Illuminate team as an Aesthetic Nurse Prescriber in 2021 to help meet the growing demand for some of our most popular treatments.
After graduating from King’s College London in 1998, Carrie spent several years working in Emergency Departments, first as a sister in charge and then as an Emergency Nurse Practitioner, assessing and treating patients. During this time, Carrie developed a special interest in Aesthetics and Dermatology following a surge of patients presenting with various skin complaints. Feeling inspired and keen to help more people overcome their skin concerns, Carrie applied to complete a postgraduate Dermatology Diploma. This is where her passion for the subject grew. After becoming immersed in knowledge about skin and meeting other like-minded Dermatology and Aesthetic nurses, Carrie has never looked back.
Following the completion of her Postgraduate Diploma, Carrie also successfully completed her Nurse Independent Prescriber enabling her to prescribe the medications required within aesthetic medicine. This was an important goal to her as she feels that prescribing is imperative to Aesthetics. After this, Carrie went on to accomplish several Aesthetics courses and has been fortunate enough to have worked alongside many award-winning practitioners. During this time, she has developed a loyal following of patients who admire her holistic approach to the skin and her passion to achieve beautiful, subtle results.
More recently, Carrie has gained her Level 7 diploma – a JCCP-approved and VTCT-certified clinical aesthetics diploma in injectable treatments for medical professionals considering a career in aesthetic medicine as well as those already practising but looking to obtain formal recognition for their knowledge and skills.
Carrie was handpicked by Dr Sophie Shotter to join our flourishing team and help grow our aesthetic offering. Working closely alongside Dr Sophie and our team of talented aesthetic practitioners, Carrie provides a wide range of aesthetic and medical injectable treatments including anti-wrinkle injections, advanced dermal fillers, Hyperhidrosis, full face rejuvenation, chin and jawline augmentation, skin laxity improvement and scar revision.
The most rewarding part of Carrie’s role is witnessing the patient’s transformation – both in appearance and confidence. She enjoys working closely with her patients to truly understand what they’d like to achieve with their skin, and she is passionate about producing natural-looking, non-surgical enhancements and seeing the positive impact that treatments can have on both wellbeing and self-esteem.
Outside of work, Carrie loves going on active holidays with her family – particularly, skiing in Austria and body boarding in Cornwall. She is passionate about music and loves food – eating it, not cooking it!
