Judith’s story – Dermal Fillers
For about a year I had noticed increasing signs of ageing on my face. My skin had started to sag and jowls had started to appear, along with ever-more fine lines and wrinkles. Whilst I had been using over-the-counter skincare products regularly, I knew these would not make a real difference, so I started to look for other options.

Picking up the Times newspaper one Saturday morning, I read an article in which the writer had received a treatment called Profhilo from Dr Sophie Shotter. The journalist was very complimentary about both the treatment and Dr Sophie, so I decided to look into this further. Dr Sophie’s clinic was near my home and all the reviews that I read on the treatments she offered were excellent, so I made an appointment for an initial consultation.
I was expecting Illuminate Skin Clinic to be a little intimidating but it was nothing like I imagined! Emma, the receptionist, was very friendly and put my mind at my ease whilst I waited for my appointment. Dr Sophie was great too. She understood my concerns immediately and after a detailed discussion about what I was hoping to achieve with my treatment, she gently said that perhaps Profhilo was not the right treatment to restore the structure I wanted to my face. Instead, she suggested that Dermal Fillers would better meet my objective and provide support for my sagging skin.
I accepted the points Dr Sophie had made and decided to take her advice. It was a big decision for me as I had seen pictures of people who had had bad filler treatments or who had not chosen their practitioner wisely, but I need not have worried. The treatment itself was swift, with only a small amount of discomfort and no pain and it was all over within 30 minutes. I felt very nervous, but after Dr Sophie showed me the change to one side of my face before treating the other side, I was amazed and relieved!
After my treatment I discussed what I should expect in the coming few days with both Emma and Dr Sophie and they gave me detailed aftercare advice. I’ve since received emails, a telephone call and had a follow up appointment to see how the treatment went and make sure that everything is OK. I’ve also booked an appointment in 6 months time for a further check-up.
Both my treatment experience and results at Illuminate have surpassed my expectations. The friendliness and professionalism of Dr Sophie and her team were exemplary and the results the fillers achieved gave been brilliant – I’m still me, but a rejuvenated version, one that I recognise from a few years ago! I’ve received many compliments on how fresh I look and I am so pleased that I took the plunge and had the treatment!
Would I recommend Illuminate to others? Absolutely – in a flash!
