Drooping Eyebrow Causes and Treatments, West Malling, Kent
Your eyebrows play a crucial role in framing your face and conveying expressions. However, with age or certain conditions, eyebrows can start to droop, altering one’s appearance and affecting self-confidence. Understanding the causes and exploring non-surgical aesthetic treatments like Botox and Sofwave can offer effective solutions.
What Causes Drooping Eyebrows?
Drooping brows (ptosis) is a common condition as we get older. The loss of collagen, elastin and natural skin hydration leads to loosening of the skin. It is typically more noticeable near the tail of the brow (where the brow tapers to the temple). Drooping brows can give the appearance of fatigue and also affect the ability to wear makeup such as eyeshadow, eyeliner or foundation.
Effects of Drooping Eyebrows
Drooping eyebrows can impact facial aesthetics and expressions. It can make a person appear tired, angry, or older than they are. Furthermore, it might obstruct vision in severe cases, affecting daily activities. In this case, a surgical blepharoplasty or brow lift will likely be the most appropriate treatment option.
But, for mild cases of a drooping brow, there are several aesthetic treatments that may prove advantageous.
Non-Surgical Solutions for Correcting Drooping Eyebrows
Botox
Botulinum toxin, commonly known as Botox, is a popular non-surgical cosmetic treatment. It works by temporarily blocking the connection between nerves and muscles, thereby enabling muscles to stay relaxed. Botulinum toxin can be injected into the muscles between the brows and at the tail of the brows (Orbicularis Oculi), to selectively adjust the balance of these muscles, resulting in a natural lift of the brows. When strategically injected, Botox can lift the eyebrows and create a more youthful, refreshed appearance to the eyes.
Dermal filler
Dermal filler injections can be used to augment the definition of the brow and temples, resulting in a lift to the eyebrow. Hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal filler is a natural skin hydrating gel that plumps the skin and lifts the eyebrows. A dermal filler brow lift is a safe, effective, and long-lasting treatment.
Sofwave
Sofwave revitalises the skin through ultrasound treatments that stimulate the new production of collagen – the protein responsible for the firmness of healthy skin. This ultrasound energy precisely passes through the skin’s surface, heating the mid-dermal tissue at just the correct depth and temperature to stimulate collagen fibre production and improve the skin’s overall appearance. This ultrasound energy causes tissue to heat up rapidly.
Once the cells in the targeted area reach a certain higher temperature, they are stimulated to produce more collagen and elastin – which consequently lifts your sagging brow and restores skin to a younger, more wrinkle-free appearance. The impacted treatment zones stimulate a healing response called neocollagenesis and neoelastogenesis, which increase and regenerate the collagen and elastin in the skin – therefore reducing fine lines and wrinkles, lifting the eyebrows, and lifting the lax skin of the submental (beneath-the-chin) and neck tissues. Studies have shown that Sofwave can lift eyebrows by as much as 5m
Immediate results can be seen as soon as one week following the Sofwave treatment. The collagen regeneration process can sometimes take up to 12 weeks, so patients can expect to see ongoing improvements within the first few weeks or months after their treatment. Sofwave results are not permanent, and yearly maintenance treatments are recommended.
