What is the Trucheck Intelli Blood Test?

TruCheck is a highly effective and convenient cancer screening blood test available to detect up to 70 types of solid organ cancers. It works by checking your blood sample for circulating tumour cells (CTCs), and clusters of the cells. Thanks to recent technological advancements (validated on over 40,000 individuals), we also know enough about what different cells look like to be able to identify from their unique fingerprint which part of the body they have come from. This means we can now detect cancer in some cases at stages before they are visible on scans and through current screening techniques. New in the UK, this test is revolutionising the ability to detect cancer at its earliest stages, and we are proud to be one of the early adopters in the country to offer it.

What happens at the appointment?

A non-invasive procedure, this test requires a simple blood test appointment to draw a small sample from a vein in your arm. This sample is then analysed at a leading UK laboratory to detect the existence of any CTCs and therefore to determine whether you have a higher risk of detectable cancer currently in your body; a negative finding will signify a substantially lesser risk.

You can choose to screen for multiple cancers or choose to target a specific type of cancer. The choice is personal, some patients prefer to screen for the largest possible number of cancers. Other patients want to do a more targeted screen.

What happens if my results come back as positive?

A positive result means that CTCs have been found in your blood. The test results will indicate the location for the select types of cancer with high accuracy, and in other cancers, the tissue of origin can be identified with reasonable accuracy. This means we can tell you where the cancer started developing in your body.

With any positive result, a member of the clinical team will call you personally to discuss your results, what they mean and guide you on your next steps which would include a referral.
