When it comes to restoring facial volume with injectables, Hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers are the most commonly known, and the type used in the most traditional ways – to enhance lips, replace volume underneath hollow eyes, straighten out a hooked or bumpy nose, or add definition to the jawline, for example. But a new realm of hybrid injectables is emerging and they promise to do a lot more than just restore volume in the face – they also work behind the scenes to improve the quality of the skin from within. The new hybrid injectable, HArmonyCa, which contains hyaluronic acid and calcium hydroxyapatite, is used to improve the skin condition and laxity, whilst also providing volume from its HA element.
So, how exactly does HArmonyCa work and how does it compare to fillers? Read on for everything you need to know.
How does HArmonyCa work?
HArmonyCa is an injectable composed of a gel that combines 70 per cent cross-linked hyaluronic acid (HA) for immediate plumping and 30 percent calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHA) microspheres to stimulate collagen synthesis. Additionally, it contains lidocaine, a numbing agent, to minimise discomfort during the injections.
The hyaluronic acid component gives immediate lift and volume, like traditional fillers do. The calcium hydroxyapatite then continues to stimulate collagen and elastin production naturally which will give skin back its firmness and bounce. Results last up to an incredible three years.
Is HArmonyCa a filler?
HArmonyCa distinguishes itself significantly from conventional filler products. While most dermal fillers predominantly rely on Hyaluronic Acid, a natural substance found in the body that attracts and retains moisture to keep the skin hydrated and plump, HArmonyCa possesses a unique attribute.
What makes HArmonyCa unique is that the product also contains Calcium Hydroxyapatite microspheres (CaHA), which stimulates the body’s own production of collagen and elastin – improving the skin’s elasticity over time, even when the hyaluronic acid has broken down.
Furthermore, HArmonyCa is administered in the immediate subcutaneous layer of the face, as opposed to traditional fillers that target the fat or bone foundations. This further reduces the chances of any potential side effects.
Who would benefit from HArmonyCa?
This injectable is excellent for targeting laughter lines, also referred to as ‘accordion’ or ‘concertina’ lines, which on the whole don’t set in until your 40’s when collagen levels drop, and skin loses its density and spring. But the application technique, which allows an even layer of the product to settle under the lower cheeks’ skin surface, can also help firm up and thicken tired-looking, loose skin. It smooths and tightens jowls whilst improving the overall quality of the skin. HArmonyCa can also be used to rejuvenate the back of the hands, firming up the skin and reducing the bony appearance, leaving them looking years younger.
When will you see results?
Following the treatment, the targeted region will experience an immediate increase in volume, resulting in firmer and plumper skin. Furthermore, any existing lines and wrinkles will be effectively smoothed out.
Even as the filler gradually dissipates over approximately 18 months, which is the average duration of treatment results, the presence of calcium hydroxyapatite within the product will persist, continuing to induce smoother, tighter skin that’ll keep deepening and multiplying lines at bay.
