What causes drooping eyebrows?
Drooping eyebrows are usually caused by age. As the muscles in the face weaken, it can cause the eyebrows to lower gradually. As well as this, our skin naturally loses collagen with age, a crucial protein that keeps our skin looking firm and youthful and gives it structure.
Sagging eyebrows, or heavy brows, make our eyes look droopy and increase our deep furrows and facial frown lines – resulting in a tired or sad appearance. Eyebrows are a defining feature of any face, so paying attention to their appearance is important.
Using Ultrasound to lift the brow
Sofwave revitalizes skin through ultrasound treatments that stimulate the new production of collagen – the protein responsible for the firmness of healthy skin. This ultrasound energy precisely passes through the skin’s surface, heating the mid-dermal tissue at just the correct depth and temperature to stimulate collagen fibre production and improve the skin’s overall appearance. This ultrasound energy causes tissue to heat up rapidly.
Once the cells in the targeted area reach a certain higher temperature, they are stimulated to produce more collagen and elastin – which consequently lifts your sagging brow and restores skin to a younger, more wrinkle-free appearance. What results can you expect?
Immediate results can be seen as soon as one week following the Sofwave treatment. The collagen regeneration process can sometimes take up to 12 weeks, so patients can expect to see ongoing improvements within the first few weeks or months after their treatment. Sofwave results are not permanent, and yearly maintenance treatments are recommended.
How does Sofwave compare to Ultherapy?
Until the release of Sofwave, Ultherapy was seen as the gold standard for non-surgical lifting and rejuvenation. Ultherapy and other lower-powered devices, such as HIFU, also use ultrasound technology, but the energy delivery is not as precise. In contrast, Sofwave releases energy at an accurate depth of 1.5mm, which represents the optimum depth to stimulate collagen and elastin fibres.
