Botox Trapezius shoulder slimming and muscle pain relief, West Malling, Kent
With so many uses to benefit how we look and feel, anti-wrinkle injections have grown immensely in popularity over recent years. We can use them to relax wrinkles, prevent excessive sweating, slim the face, and press pause on painful migraines. But did you know that the muscle-relaxing procedure can also slim the shoulders and relieve the aches and pains that result from stress? Many people are surprised to hear that the injection typically used to smooth wrinkles can be used in this way, and we’re all living with increased stress these days, so this procedure can benefit many of us.
What is the trapezius muscle, and what does it do?
The trapezius is a large muscle that covers the neck, shoulders, and the back. We can use Botox strategically to shrink it and create the appearance of a longer neck and straighter angled shoulders. It also helps with neck and shoulder pain from tight, overused or overdeveloped muscles and gives the appearance of a better posture.
By strategically placing muscle relaxing treatment into the muscles of the neck, shoulder and even the scalp, we can alleviate muscular tension, constriction, and pain. Injecting the trapezius muscles is a highly effective way to ease back and neck pain due to tight muscles, and it also has the added benefit of helping to straighten your posture.
Who is a good candidate for treatment?
Overactive trapezius muscles can also make the shoulder and muscles above the collarbone look enlarged. Over time the neck may appear shorter and the face wider in comparison. This gives a more masculine and stockier appearance and may even lead to a hunched posture.
Botox treatment in this area is suitable for anyone who suffers from neck and shoulder pain, tension headaches, and poor posture. From an aesthetic perspective, this treatment can elongate the neck and create, straighten, and contour the shoulders to create an elegant long neck and to look more feminine.
How does Botox work?
Botox or botulinum toxin is a neurotoxin that relaxes muscles. When used in the face, Botox relaxes the facial muscles to reduce wrinkles. When injected into masseter muscles, Botox relaxes the jaw muscles to reduce teeth grinding and slim down the face. Similarly, when Botox is injected strategically into the trapezius muscles, the muscles can be relaxed without affecting the normal movement of the arm, shoulder joint, back and neck. As the overactivity of the trapezius muscle is suppressed, the hypertrophic trapezius muscles lose their bulk and size.
Following treatment, aches and pains should disappear over seven to ten days as the effects of the treatment take effect, your posture will start to correct itself, and the size and bulkiness of the shoulder muscles will be reduced. It’s an excellent way to reduce stress on the neck and shoulders whilst restoring a feminine, angular shoulder line.
