Which lip fillers last the longest?
Plump, voluminous lips are one of those eternally appealing, youthful looks – a goal sought after by both the older person whose lips are thinning and by the younger ones who just want their lips to be that little bit bigger, more well defined, and poutier. There are many ways that we can transform a pair of lips with dermal fillers, from shape and contour to hydration and balance. If you’re considering lip fillers for the first time, you may be wondering ‘Which dermal filler is best?’ or ‘Which dermal filler lasts the longest?’. Dermal fillers are only a temporary treatment as the effect wear off over time and require maintenance. This is everything that you need to know.
What are lip fillers and what makes a good product?
The lips are soft and flexible, so you need a filler that will sit happily within them. The best products will contain hyaluronic acid and they will be designed for the lip area. These include products such as Juvederm’s Volbella, Restylane’s Silk or Kysse, and Teoxane’s Kiss. Once in the lip, the filler will integrate with the lip tissue and hold onto moisture, because that’s what hyaluronic acid does, and this will provide the extra plumpness and hydration in your lips. The best product for you will depend on your overall concerns. For more mature patients, Restylane is excellent for reshaping and redefining the border or “scaffolding” of the lips that fades over time. And in younger patients with thinner lips, we are more likely to use Juvéderm Volbella for volume and oomph.
Which filler lasts the longest?
Juvederm and Restylane are the most popular hyaluronic acid lip fillers, with practitioners and patients alike. They’re both considered to be highly safe and effective products for creating beautiful, natural-looking results. And they are both available with lidocaine for improved treatment comfort.
While the lifespan of dermal fillers can vary considerably between patients, depending on the product, your lifestyle and unique metabolism, Juvederm is the longest-lasting temporary lip filler with results visible for up to a year. Restylane comes in at a close second, with results lasting between 6-10 months. No matter what filler is used, however, patients are usually advised to attend a six-month review appointment of their dermal fillers and this is a good time to consider having a small top-up procedure. By doing so, the filler results are maintained better and are kept consistent.
Can you make lip fillers last longer?
Unfortunately, there isn’t much that you can do to maintain your lip fillers for longer as your body will naturally break the product down over time. However, there are little things that you can do to support your results, such as taking care of your skin health and overall wellbeing. Start by implementing a good-quality skincare regime that contains a broad-spectrum sunscreen, take a good collagen supplement, avoid smoking or never spend excessive amounts of time in the sun, and invest in treatments like the HydraFacial and skin boosters.
