Childhood Cancer Awareness Month – We’re Getting Behind It!
The month of September marks Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and we are pledging our support once again to Ellenor.
This fantastic charity, based in Gravesend, offers crucial support to families around Kent who are facing terminal illness.
It does this by providing specialist palliative support for adults and children to end life in their own home or a designated nursing centre.
It also runs a hospice for children and provides vital respite care for babies, children and young people with palliative care needs and life limiting conditions, including those undergoing cancer treatment.
At Illuminate we have been supporting Ellenor for some time and believe it is so important to do whatever we can to fundraise for these essential services.
Across September we will be donating 10% of profits from all treatments booked at Illuminate to Ellenor and we dearly hope to raise as much money as we can.
Dr Sophie Shotter said: “The work that Ellenor does across our community is so important and this is a charity very close to our hearts.
“The help they give to people who are trying to cope with a terminal illness within their family is crucial.
“And so for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month we thought it a great opportunity to throw our support behind the cause – the thought of ever having to cope with the loss of a baby or small child is just heartbreaking and Ellenor does a great amount of work specifically with children and families in this situation.
“Anyone who is in that situation needs all of the help we can all offer and so I am keen to get the message across that people visiting Illuminate for a treatment in September will also be helping Ellenor continue their amazing work into the future.”
