For men

The information in our ‘By Decade’ section is also relevant to you, but men have a little more luck than women here – the skin is thicker and as such ages better than women, in most cases.

It is only in the last 10 years where it has become acceptable for ‘real men’ to use skincare products. Since then there has been a huge rise in the popularity of creams, lotions and potions bought over the counter. The iS Clinical and Obagi ranges are both excellent for male skin, and we would be happy to provide advice during a skincare consultation. You may still encounter uneven pigmentation, and chemical peels or Obagi Nu-Derm will both treat this effectively.

Active acne and acne scarring are common complaints from men. We have excellent skincare ranges for treating acne – Obagi CLENZIderm and iS Clinical. Combining these with chemical peels and microdermabrasion to decongest the skin will produce excellent results. Once we have control of the active condition we can target scarring using a course of Genuine Dermaroller with or without platelet-rich plasma therapy.

Whilst men develop the same lines, wrinkles and loss of volume as women, at Illuminate Skin Clinics we appreciate the differences in facial structure between men and women. We can use Botox and dermal fillers to restore a more youthful look without feminising your face.

Men have areas of their bodies they struggle to define just as much as women. Common areas are the flanks and the tummy, even in men who are slim elsewhere. We can target these areas very well with CoolSculpting, which will freeze the fat and cause a permanent reduction in the size of the fat deposit.

If you spend a lot of time in the gym but struggle to get the definition of a six-pack, Aqualyx is an excellent treatment option. We will ask you to crunch whilst we draw out the shape of your underlying muscles before injecting Aqualyx into these areas. This will dissolve the fat in these areas, leaving you with the definition you desire.

Many men struggle with thread veins on their face, which we can effectively treat with the gold-standard Thermavein. Whilst veins on the legs are more common in females, a surprising number of men struggle both with varicose veins and with thread veins. We would be happy to offer you a free consultation. We can treat your thread veins with microsclerotherapy or arrange for a referral to a vascular surgeon for treatment of varicose veins.

Hyperhidrosis is an embarrassing condition that many men struggle with. It can affect the armpits, hands or palms of the feet and can make social situations difficult. Botox is an excellent treatment option for this condition to help restore your confidence.
